International Days

The United Nations observes designated days, weeks, years, and decades, each with a theme, or topic, as powerful tools for advocacy, awareness and action. The majority of observances have been established by resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly, although some have been designated by UN specialized agencies.

International Day of Clean Energy

The International Day of Clean Energy is a call to raise awareness and mobilize action for a just and inclusive transition to clean energy for the benefit of people and the planet. International Mother Earth Day

International Mother Earth Day provides an opportunity to raise global public awareness of the challenges to the well-being of the planet and all the life it supports. The Day also recognizes a collective responsibility, as called for in the 1992 Rio Declaration, to promote harmony with nature and the Earth, to achieve a just balance among the economic, social, and environmental needs of the present and future generations of humanity.

World Migratory Bird Day

World Migratory Bird Day is an annual awareness-raising campaign highlighting the need for the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats. It has a global outreach and is an effective tool to help raise global awareness of the threats faced by migratory birds, their ecological importance, and the need for international cooperation to conserve them. The day is observed twice a year; in May and October.
